room tour

As some of you may know, I have recently been re-decorating my bedroom from purple to neutral. Now I am finished I can finally do something I have wanted to do for a while - Room Tour!
I spend a lot of time on my bed so it has to be perfectly cosy and warm. I made some cushions for it out of some remnants from a furnishing shop, added some fairy lights to the shelve above my bed, and managed to pick up an expensive duvue cover reduced from £55 to £10 - bargain!

If I'm not on/in my bed, I'm probably at my desk doing something arty. It is very messy here, buts it an organised mess. I picked up some cheap crates too which are perfect for storing all my art stuff and they have great character too.

My dresser has a lot of stuff on and in it. It is home to my Goldfish, Mango and Moby, its got hair and beauty products on there, my make-up and it also home to a lot of my clothes and my sisters casts-off. Next to my dresser is an essential mirror. This however is being stood up by skateboards until I can hang it up again.

This bookshelves was the first flat pack I ever assembled successfully with no help in an hour and a half. It has proved itself to be very useful. It looks after my DVD's, my book, my college books, and a few jam jars, sunglasses and cards with little messages in from people like my sister and my boyfriend.

Moving Rooms

Aloha!
WARNING: The only useful stuff is in italic, the rest is just context to why I am doing this post.
I got a bee in my bonnet this afternoon at work.....With much objection to my parents, I am hopefully moving out of my room and into my spare room, on the grounds of my physical, mental and emotional health at risk (I'm a fineeee blackmailer). The spare room is also a square which I find makes it a bit easier to decorate and so has a nicer more symmetrical feeling and feels more homely. So I have come up with many plans on how to decorate my room.
Planning before moving in is a very important skill, and is essential before moving in to any space. You need to have many options as well to see where you want the furniture to go so you get the right feeling in the room that you are after.
So I have spent my evening getting measurements of my rooms and furniture and creating lots of diagrams and options. Make sure your measurements are accurate, as otherwise your plans will not fit. Your diagrams don't have to be as accurate, just as long as you get the just of things. Block out areas where things like doors, heaters and windows go so that you don't fill space you don't have, and always make sure it fits in the room.
As I am swapping rooms rather than getting a blank canvas, I not only need to plan the spare room and where the furniture will go in there, but I also need to plan my current room, and where all the spare, junk and storage furniture will go. As this operation is also to my parents objection, I have been doing all the work for the, by creating plans for them for the old furniture to goo, this also includes us selling my piano and keeping the laptop in the spare room, where it has internet. So basically moving rooms is a win-win for me, and a draw to my parents. Boyyah!

The Caddy

Aloha!
I loooove things that are built for one purpose only, but you somehow find a way of giving it another purpose - one it wasn't designed for, but it fits the job description perfectly!

This is exactly what I was planning on doing when I was going to spray a cheese greater to store my earrings on, but when I couldn't find the perfect cheese greater (fussy), I found this cutlery caddy with holes already in it. It didn't require painting, and was perfect for storing my earrings. Its itsnt too big and is great at storing my earnings in the perfect fun way that stops them from getting lost, or placed, and leaving with only one of every earring rather than a pair!

Room space

Aloha!
I loveee my bedroom and I think there are so many cool ways to decorate it and make it seem so personal.
Decorating your bedroom is a really relaxing thing to do, I find in a funny way! And it is different for every pperson. I am a very arty and creative person as you all know, so I have lots of  little things like candles and and fairy lights throughout my room, but there are also many arty things I love to do that I display throughout my little space.
I have wine and beer bottles covered in tissue paper which make nice vases or just a colourful piece of decor. Then are things like doodles which I have copied and have bluetacked to my wall. I have a wall covered with photos of me and friends and family which makes it a bit more personal. Then there are the way things are organised. I shall do a separate blog post on this later, but I have painted a cheese grater and that is now displaying my earrings. There are many ways to make your space more organised and more you in just the way you decorate it!
If my arty style isn't for you and you are more are more into fashion. Why not try displaying all your fashion magazines throughout your room. Whatever your hobbies are by incorporating them into your bedroom just makes your space seem a bit more personal and nicer to live in.
See you later peeps x
